I could have also named this post “I cook six breakfasts three times a day, and still manage to do a bunch of other stuff.  But that just sounded lame.

I’m often asked how I get everything done in a day.  As a wife, mom of 4, and the owner of a very busy Virtual Assistant business, it can seem daunting, but it’s really not when you have systems in place to help.

Here is my current typical day.  My 16-year-old daughter has started saying she’s not sure if I’m Super Mom or Psycho Mom, but it’s working.  Life is good, business is good, and I can’t ask for much more than that.

5:45 – 7:00: wake up teenagers (3 times minimum), make their breakfast and lunch, make sure they leave on time (hooray for kids who can drive!!)
7:00 – 8:30: wake up the younger two, make their breakfast and lunch, get them out the door on time (remembering to change out of pj’s)

9:15 – 9:45 :: back home, make breakfast for broken hubby and myself (9 – 10 am used to be blocked off for time I call “My Business Comes First”, but I’ve had to back-burner that until the hubs is better)

10:00 – 12:00: client work, strategy sessions, consultations

12:00 – 1:00: ideally blocked off for lunch, but I usually skip it.

1:00 – 4:00: I have a time block here called “Work on Self or Business.”  I don’t usually take calls during this period, and I am totally okay with using this time for just about anything that comes up.

4:00 – 7:00: This is either filled with karate classes, running to the grocery store, dinner prep, & other extracurricular stuff.

7:00 – 8:00: Dinner prep, eating & cleaning (we’re late eaters)

8:00 – 10:00: Hang out with kids, watch TV, whatever.  Sleep, and do it all over again.

Once our summer schedule starts next week, I’ll probably start my day around 8, delegate making breakfast to my daughter’s who enjoy cooking, and start work a little earlier.
